I had just gotten off the Geltenhütte and decided to have lunch, before the bus, at the Launensee restaurant. As always, their food is simple and good. We are not in a gourmet restaurant, but I want to praise the service, which would make more highly rated restaurants envious: efficient, essential, kind and attentive to customer needs.
A very unique location combined with a classical Swiss Country Restaurant. Full of memorabilia, wooden decor, a lot of cheese food and smells, a fantastic terrace overlooking the Lauenensee (lake Lauenen). Take your time to hike the many different patches, which will lead you back to the restaurant. There is public transportation from Gstaad to the location, 5 Minutes walk.
Well, the views of the place are amazing really and the ambient of the building is a full Swiss cliche ten out of ten. The service was not good at all, we try to order a simple plate of fries and they answer “we don’t serve fries here” when I turn around they have the fryer working and the potato’s next to it and one of the waitress eating them so 🤷🏻♂️… then we ask for a table with a nice view to the lake, they said we can’t take it, two minutes after 2 persons arrive and took the table without problem or reservation, the Coca Cola they bring was not even natural temperature was more like mid hot , they only accept cash. In conclusion my experience was not good maybe we arrive at the wrong time or a bad time for the men who was attending the place. I did not feel good at all.
The pork steak was the best Swiss food I have ever had!! Waitress was also super super kind and warm. Everything was super good. Dog friendly and there’s a kids playground as well. Highly recommend 👍 don’t forget to bring cash!
Beautifully located traditional mountain restaurant with terrace overlooking the nearby Lauenensee. Week-ends are more busy than the personnel can handle comfortably and food is basic. Even horses can have a place at the table and taste a fondue which is nice.
Perfect stop after some scenic hiking or trail riding in my case. Open from May and cash only!
