Sulwald Stübli — Beim alten Haus 4071, 3822 Isenfluh, Switzerland

Wir landeten an einem Tag in Sulwald, an dem es plötzlich stürmisch wurde. Es stellte sich heraus, dass der Wetterumschwung eine wunderbare Sache war, denn er schickte uns ins Sulwald Stubli. Es ist ein wunderbar gemütlicher kleiner Ort, der zu freundlichen Gesprächen und herzlichen Zusammenkünften einlädt. Wir saßen mit wunderbaren Menschen aus der ganzen Welt an einem Tisch. Aber das Beste kam noch: das fantastische Essen. Ich hatte den unglaublichen Stubli Hot Dog und meine Frau hatte den Knödel mit Boullion, der ihrer Meinung nach der beste Leckerbissen unserer Reise gewesen wäre. Der Service war wunderbar und fürsorglich. Lassen Sie sich diesen Ort nicht entgehen!

Wir hatten ein fantastisches Mittagessen im Sulwald Stübli! Ich weiß, dass es auf den Bildern wie ein einfaches Sandwich und eine Suppe aussehen könnte. In Wirklichkeit handelte es sich um eine frische Mahlzeit direkt vom Bauernhof. Ich denke, mein Mann hat es am besten gesagt. Er sagte, es sei das beste Salami-Sandwich, das er je gegessen habe. Ich weiß richtig? Ich habe mich für die Tagessuppe mit Bergkäse und Brot entschieden. Beste Entscheidung überhaupt! Es war eine gelbe Kürbissuppe mit einem Hauch Curry. Es war fantastisch! Ich bin mir nicht sicher, wie dieser Bergkäse heißt. Ist es Sulsalp? Ich kann nur sagen, dass es köstlich war und wunderschön präsentiert wurde, mit Wildblumen, die über den Käse gestreut waren. Es war alles sehr zufriedenstellend mit dem frisch gebackenen Brot. Eine leichte und erfrischende Mahlzeit. Wir dachten darüber nach, das Käsefondue zu teilen, aber es war ein ungewöhnlich warmer Tag. Ein weiterer Menüpunkt, der mir ins Auge fiel, war der Tiroler Käseknödel. Ich würde das gerne eines Tages mit einem Salat probieren, wenn wir es jemals zurück nach Sulwald schaffen. Wir probierten auch den typischen Eistee mit Kräutergeschmack. Es schmeckte erfrischend und passte perfekt zur natürlichen Landschaft und Atmosphäre um uns herum. Unser Kellner war auch wunderbar und freundlich. Sie gab uns das Gefühl, willkommen zu sein. Es war wirklich ein wunderschöner Tag.

Ein verstecktes Juwel in der Gegend. Wunderschöne Aussicht auf das Jungfraujoch und ein ruhiger Ort voller Aussicht und Ruhe. Sie erreichen dieses Bergrestaurant mit der Luftseilbahn Isenfluh/Sulwald, die Hin- und Rückfahrt kostet etwa 14,- Euro. Essen und Trinken ist etwas teuer, aber in der Schweiz und auf einem Berg ist es völlig in Ordnung.

Just ordered a couple of drinks from here, after getting the cable car up from Isenfluh. Thought this might be a ‘budget’ way of getting a view of Eiger, Monch & Jungfrau at a quarter of the cost of going up Mannlicken & hiking the Panoramaweg on the other side so we did this first & yes you do get a good view of the mountains but it’s simply not as good as the other side imho. However, It’s fun driving up to Isenfluh through the spiral tunnel & then catching the cable car. The bonus of going up this side is that it is a lot quieter than the other side of the valley, so if you want to get away from it all, this is probably your spot! We were going to hike to the Lobhornhutte but it was a very hot day & we were simply too tired after weeks on the road by this point so opted against it. Would conclude that Sulwald is a nice, relatively peaceful place to just chill for a couple of hours as we decided to do.

This place was an incredible experience for us. On our way up to Lauterbrunnen we were stopped by police becuase of a running race. Instead of turning around we asked them what's up that side road and they said go have a look. Wow, a nice drive up to a small village with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains with nice homes perched on the mountain side overlooking the valleys below. We had a quick coffee at the Cafe there and the guy told us about the small gondola uo to the top of the mountain where we could see where the cows go in the summer time. A few bucks later we were on our way up the mountain. When we got to the top there was a great little eatery at the gondola landing site. We sat there and had a small platter of local cheeses and other bits and pieces while we looked over probably the most beautiful views we had ever seen, with Lauterbrunnen well below us. After a quick eat we walked around the farm lands along some tracks to open uo the views ever further. The pictures I have attached are lovely and provide great memories for us, but they, by no means account for the grand vistas and awe you will feel when walking around up here. After later visiting the busy Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald, we decided our trip up this mountain was the highlight of our time in Switzerland. Do yourself a big favour and poke your nose up this road and keep following it until you see what I mean!

We had the great luck to go there on a stunning (sunny and clear) working day. Meaning we were almost alone and we had no problems to sit on the terrace. I’ve been there other times and it was very crowded and impossible to sit outside. We ordered a classic fondue with potatoes, and it was perfect: taste and quantity. Being there, with that view, being hungry and taking a fondue and a beer was just amazing. Also the waitress was extremely kind. The capuccino and cake were also great. I totally recommend this place, but in high season, better to book in advance.
