Fun and well-designed forest trail with 17 activity stations - perfect for kids but enjoyable for adults too. The 2.5 km loop is easy and scenic, with interactive, educational, and playful stops along the way. Halbtax accepted for the gondola Multiple grill stations along the route (skip the first, it is usually crowded) Toilets and restaurant available at the top Extras include a trampoline, outdoor bowling, and gold panning for kids For the way down: hike, gondola, or rent mountain trikes Well maintained, not too long, and great for a day out with or without kids.
5/5 - A Fantastic Family Adventure at Riesenwald Elm!🌲🏞️ Our visit to Riesenwald Elm in the Canton of Glarus was an unforgettable experience, and I highly recommend it, especially for families with young children. We traveled there on a Saturday morning, and while the drive took longer than expected due to traffic, it was well worth the wait. 🚗🚦 The ascent to the site was easy, thanks to the lift, which wasn’t as high as some others we’ve experienced. It’s great for those who might be a bit nervous about heights. 🎢 Once at the top, the adventure begins right away with a well-marked route featuring 17 stations. Each station is unique—some are educational, others observative, and some offer fun activities that the kids can try out. 🧩 The stations are beautifully designed, and the 2.5-kilometer hike is manageable for all ages. 🚶♂️🌳 There are several grill stations along the route, so you can bring your own food and enjoy a barbecue. I suggest not stopping at the first one, which tends to be crowded. Instead, keep going until you find the perfect spot. 🍖🔥 A tip: the last grill station is at the top of a hill—once you start descending, there aren’t any more, but by then, you’re close to the starting point where you can grab something to eat. 🍔 The starting and ending point has a restaurant with a variety of food and drinks available, and there are clean restroom facilities as well. 🚻🍽️ The kids loved the trampoline area, which is well-maintained and safe, allowing them to perform some cool tricks. 🤸♂️ Additionally, there’s a free outdoor bowling area 🎳 and a small gold panning setup near a little river. The “gold” is placed there by the restaurant owners, and the kids can exchange what they find for something at the shop—a nice touch! 🪙🏞️ For the descent, you can choose to walk, take the lift, or ride one of the tricycles, which looked like a lot of fun (though we didn’t try them this time). 🚴♀️ While I generally prefer less crowded places, Riesenwald Elm was an excellent choice for a family outing. Everything was well thought out, and we all had a great time. The kids are already asking when we can go back! 🎉 I highly recommend Riesenwald Elm and give it a solid 5 out of 5 stars. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What an amazing place! Gondola ride up, so much for small children to enjoy during the walk including free trampolines and a small park at the start. Beautiful scenery and family interaction with 2 restaurants to enjoy food/ drinks. Highly recommend.
Our top destination in Alpines. Here are the reasons: - Cable car price is cheaper than the others. - There is free trampoline for kids. -Trail is really convenient for kids. There lots of fun spots. - You can return back with monster scooters. - Lots of picnic spots with full of wooden - Restaurants are big and menus are quite good. I can't have any con for this destination.
Great hiking tour for small kids. Every few hundred meters some activities to explore and nice views. Also some barbecue possibilities. And the cabelcar up is quite fast (not only every 30 minutes like it is stated at some websites)
Well done telling the stories of the giants in a fun way and plenty of things to didcover. There are public fire spots where you can bbq your food and have a rest.
