A truly authentic alpine farm where cheese is still made the traditional way. We stayed overnight in August! The sleeping quarters have no electricity, but are well-maintained, similar to a Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) hut. Dinner was very traditional, generous, and absolutely delicious. You can buy cheese at the alpine farm, which is highly recommended. Tip: You can buy a day permit to drive to Chimiboden at the Urirotstock restaurant in Isenthal.
Great accommodations for a two-day hike. The bedrooms are clean and comfortable, and the food (dinner and breakfast) is simple but delicious. There's no shower, but there is a clean toilet and plenty of space to wash. It's recommended to bring earplugs, as you'll be sleeping above the barn and the cows wear bells all night :-) Pure Switzerland!
A lovely and beautifully situated alpine pasture. However, the dormitory and rooms are directly above and below the cowshed, and when the generator starts up at 4:00 in the morning, it's hard to get back to sleep...
On the way to Urirotstock, we spent a night in a mattress camp. Very cozy and rustic. Very friendly hosts and delicious food in a magnificent setting. After the day visitors have returned to the valley, we enjoy the peace and quiet on the mountain pasture... wonderful.
