Can only write about the Restaurant. Run by Manuela (hope I spelt her name correctly), wonderful, friendly host. It is situated by the main road of Merligen, part of the terrace has a lake view, the rest hidden away from the sun. Btw Merligen is one of the most peaceful and beautiful places in Switzerland... thats why the main tourists are the Swiss themselves. Back to the food. They have two specialities: Fresh fish from the Lake of Thun and Cordon Bleu. Both were wonderful!
Merligen is a beautiful village, a nice spot on the lake of Thun. The restaurant Traube doesn't take advantage of these facts: the view of the lake is blocked by the parking space and the trees behind it; tables are placed in front of a boring, blank wall with no decoration at all etc At least there is space since tourists are not especially attracted.

I was here with three ladies over 80. We received a very warm welcome. Seat cushions were offered immediately. We opted for the whitefish fillets, filleted by the local fisherman. A special spice, a secret recipe, made the meal perfect. After 40 years, the owners are looking for a successor. So please go while the fish is still so delicious. Thank you!
Excellent Swiss cuisine, extremely hospitable owners – simply outstanding! The Cordon Bleu and fish are highly recommended!
