The ultimate mid-hike reward! I accidentally found this gem while hiking the Northface Trail. The combination of spectacular views and fantastic food made it a perfect stop. Highly recommend for any hiker in the area!
📍 Pension Suppenalp – Mürren, Bernese Oberland, Switzerland 🇨🇭 We hiked from Allmendhubel down toward Gimmelwald and passed by this mountain restaurant. 🥾 Unfortunately it was closed during our visit, but the setting was beautiful with lots of cows 🐄 grazing all around. The location is peaceful, with stunning alpine views 🌄, and it looks like a perfect place to stop when open. Even without dining, walking past here was a highlight of the trail. 🙌
Lovely place if you are adventurous to enjoy the mountains, the nature, skiing, the food and wonderful people!
We stopped here on the walk from Allmendhubel down to Murren. The views were breathtaking, the staff warm and welcoming, and the food was delicious! My husband and I had incredible rosti, our 4 year old ate an entire giant salami sandwich with a grin on his face, and our 7 year old had this to say about her ham and cheese toast: “That food was so good… While I was eating it, I felt like chocolate was just plain.” We are already planning our return!
We stopped to eat here during our hike and it was probably the highlight of our entire trip to Europe. The waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was amazing. Excellent schnitzel and tomato soup. May have been some of the best fries I’ve ever had as well. The beers were super refreshing and the views were out of this world! My wife had the penache (beer mixed with sprite) and loved it. The prices here are also quite reasonable for Switzerland. And especially good given the quality and atmosphere. If you plan on hiking in the area I’d highly recommend stopping here.
Always a great place to stop for lunch in the winter season. In my opinion they do the best Rösti in Mürren. Always have the Rösti with 2 eggs and ham. (For me the eggs needs to be flipped and cooked both sides)
