Orator AG - Destillerie für edle Spirituosen & feine Anlässe — Dättlikonerstrasse 5/Gebäude 9, 8422 Pfungen, Switzerland

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Orator AG earlier this month! Orator is outstanding in its unique combination of producing high-quality, small-batch spirits and its artful historic setting. The distillery is located on the premises of a restored pre-20th century Swiss textile factory that has been converted into a combined modern distillery and art gallery. Orator's artistic focus is not just evident in its setting, but also the philosophy beyond each liquor in its product range. During a tour held by Orator's founder, Christian, I had the opportunity to sample many different beverages from two of Orators outstanding gin varieties, to its remarkable pepper spirits and its latest product, Orator White Rum. Every beverage that I sampled is marked by its unique clean and flavor-fulness taste. I found Christian's philosophy of pursing the highest possible quality in his products to be particularly compelling. It was especially interesting to learn about how he has sources his all organic ingredients. For example, he works closely with farmers in eastern Croatia to ensure access to fresh, perfectly conditioned raspberries for his award-winning raspberry spirit. It was also interesting to listen to Christian give a brief history of distilling and of his family's connections to home-distilling. I would highly recommend Orator's products to any spirit enthusiast and above all encourage anyone with the chance, to visit its distillery!

A neat little family-run distillery in a village near Zürich which offers a range of brilliant products. I first visited it two years ago and fell in love with the reserve Raspberry spirit. What struck me is that all of Orator's fruit spirits are made without any added sugar, and rightly so! You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. When I came back this summer for an event, there were so many more new products and oh boy, they were phenomenal! Especially the bergamot spirit, Mandarin spirit, the cask-strength rum, and an unforgettable grappa (I think it was called diolinoir avarone) . I brought a bottle to my grandfather in italy who has been making grappa for 20 years, and he loved it! Christian is very friendly and knowledgeable and I have learned a lot about the distilling process. You can really sense that he's very passionate about what he does! Next time I go to Switzerland I'm definitely going to visit again. I hope they will extend their selection again! :)

A truly enriching experience on many levels: The distillery's location evokes its former textile-processing roots and provides a unique ambiance for the gin tasting. The spirits themselves are an absolute delight, as evidenced by the numerous awards this still-young company has received. Professionalism is clearly evident here! Christian's passion for his products shines through when he talks about them. Finally, we were treated to a sumptuous dinner. Furthermore, everyone involved in the tour and tasting welcomed us with a warmth and hospitality that we will never forget. A highly recommended visit!
