📍 Wilderswil Village @ Bernese Oberland, Switzerland A peaceful alpine village just minutes from Interlaken—Wilderswil offers the perfect blend of quiet charm and convenient access to the Jungfrau region. Surrounded by mountains and traditional chalet-style homes, it’s an ideal base for travelers looking to explore while avoiding the tourist crowds. We stayed here for a few days and loved the slower pace. The village has a calm, local feel, yet it’s well connected by trains and buses. It’s also the gateway to the scenic Schynige Platte Railway, offering amazing views over the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. 🧭 Tip: • Stay in Wilderswil if you want a relaxing stay near Interlaken without the noise. • Morning walks through the village are peaceful, with views of green meadows and snow-capped peaks. • Grocery stores and bakeries are within walking distance.
It's a great little station just outside of Interlaken. It's also the starting point for the little train to Scyniniger Platte. We'll worth a visit. A few years ago there was a family mass shooting there but that was years ago. You get there on the BOB, Berner Oberland Bahn
Wilderswil is located in the beautiful Lauterbrunnen Valley in Switzerland. It is one of the most scenic places in Europe and as a base is a starting point to visit many spectacular locations. There is enough to see and wonder at for a whole vacation within reach of Wilderswil. Of particular note is the Schinge Platte which is accessed from the railway station and rises high above the valley as you travel on one of the amazing funicular trains. Leave plenty of time for your visit to Schinge Platte as the views are stunning and many hours can be spent soaking in the spectacle. Without a doubt once visited never forgotten. The views extend to the Lakes around Interlaken and the Eiger in the distance. If you are going to Switzerland you must visit the Lauterbrunnen Valley.
We change our train here, be aware of the platform A,B heads to Lauterbrunnen and platform C, D heads to Grindelwald, bus stop just beside the station.
Wilderswil is a cozy and well-maintained station near Interlaken, serving as the starting point for the scenic Schynige Platte railway. The nostalgic train ride offers stunning alpine views, making it a fantastic spot for exploring the region. Highly recommended for nature lovers
