We decided to renovate our 37-year-old bathroom. In April 2025, a feasibility study was conducted on-site with the tradespeople. The renovation was scheduled for mid-August. The renovation was planned to take approximately four weeks. This deadline was met. We greatly appreciated that Steger Construction in Aadorf collaborates with local tradespeople. We are very satisfied with the final result and can wholeheartedly recommend Steger Construction.
Steger installed all of our ventilation systems. Unfortunately, I can summarize by saying that Steger works quickly, but not very well. Our house smelled several times and in various places due to poorly installed ventilation systems. Shortly after moving in, we reported an unpleasant odor coming from the utility room. This report was generously ignored by Steger. After a good four years, it turned out that a siphon had not been installed properly. Additionally, Steger turned up the ventilation because the odor didn't go away despite the siphon being correctly installed – apparently a pump problem. Since then, we've had significantly increased humidity in all basements during the summer and have to constantly run dehumidifiers to prevent mold growth. Steger says the ventilation is now correctly adjusted. Likewise, the apartments have smelled of sewerage several times and for extended periods. The first time, a sleeve for the sewage vent on the roof had "simply" fallen off, so they worked quickly again. The second time, it took much longer to find the problem. For weeks and months, they said everything had been planned and built correctly, and they had no idea what the problem was. Finally, a real argument led to the building owner, together with Steger, installing urinal traps in the ventilation units to put an end to the stench. I was on the roof myself during this work and was able to inspect the vents. Steger didn't even consider it necessary to do a minimal cleaning of the vents during construction. Apparently, speed is more important than good. Steger gets a bonus point because the project manager apologized several times for the inconvenience caused by the stench. However, Steger didn't want to investigate the cause of all the problems, since the urinal traps suppress the problem until the next construction defect is noticed. The photo is of the uncleaned ventilation system with the urinal trap in the drain.
