What a beautiful hotel.
Very nicely lit garden.
We were disappointed after our visit. The venison arrived with the wrong side dishes, and the staff only acknowledged the error after we asked. The portion of venison was also very small, and the plate looked rather empty. The entrecote wasn't very hot, and the plate looked uninspired with just the risotto and the piece of meat. The dessert was excessively heavy on the cream. I expect this kind of quality from a regular restaurant, not from a country inn like the Bären Dürrenroth. The price-performance ratio was not acceptable. Our server was competent but not very friendly and seemed rather annoyed.
Today we went to the Bären restaurant for lunch. After a long wait, we were served by the owner, even though it wasn't very busy at 11:45. The waitstaff ignored us several times and served other customers. The food didn't match the menu description: chicken stroganoff with tomato sauce, which was very bland and the portion was too small. The breaded schnitzel was dark brown, overcooked, and dry. No one asked us if we enjoyed our meal because it was already too crowded. The staff also didn't have time to take our payment, so we waited a long time. Because of this, we didn't order coffee or dessert.
I highly recommend the Bären Dürrenroth restaurant. The restaurant's carefully designed furnishings and decor alone are worth a visit, as is the beautiful outdoor area – now in summer, full of flowers. Delicious, fresh, and high-quality regional cuisine, and the extremely friendly staff deserves special mention. I'd be happy to come back!
