It is a wonderful place with a quiet atmosphere and unobstructed views, surrounded by snow-covered mountains. Since you cannot see people or other houses, it is a truly great spot to relax comfortably. It is the kind of place that makes you want to stay all day long. The kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom were all cozy spaces that I really liked.
1. Unannounced infinite stairs. Getting from the bus to the accommodation required a lot of stairs. The building itself felt like a semi-basement, requiring stairs even inside. I almost died carrying my suitcase down. 2. The view was supposed to be Eiger or Glacier, but it didn't quite live up to the expectations of tourists. 3. The hot water stopped running after a certain amount of use; you had to wash your dishes before using them. 4. Despite paying a hefty price, you had to dispose of your trash yourself and separate your waste. 5. Upon entering the accommodation, you were greeted by a musty (moldy and slightly rotten) woody smell. 6. As is typical of Swiss accommodations, there were no screens, so mosquitoes, moths, and flies were constantly infesting the area. This forced me to keep the door closed. 7. Walking from Grindelwald Station is virtually impossible. The map says it's a 15-20 minute walk, but it's located halfway up the mountain and the slope is steep. Only walkable on days with plenty of energy. The problem is that there's only one bus from Grindelwald to the accommodation every 30 minutes, with the last bus leaving at 6:30 PM. 8. The office staff was rude. (We weren't informed in advance.) They kept repeating, like a parrot, that they couldn't give us the key without a 500-franc deposit. We explained that they hadn't informed us of this and that we were overseas and couldn't freely transfer money, but they just kept repeating the same thing like a parrot. On the plus side, 1) the accommodation facilities were clean, 2) there were plenty of cutlery (though they didn't even have basic ingredients like salt, pepper, and oil). 3) What else was there to offer? Conclusion: We had no choice but to book this place because we had to make a last-minute reservation during peak season. However, if possible, I recommend booking elsewhere. While Swiss accommodations are incredibly expensive, this place isn't worth the price.
