Most tourists took the train directly from here to Mürren but I opted to hike instead as it was a beautiful day. There’s a convenient store at the top of Grütschalp station, with a seating area where you could enjoy panoramic views while having some food and drinks. The hike from Grütschalp to Winteregg, a train stop before Mürren, was incredibly scenic. I stopped for a beer at Wintereg then rode the train for the second half of the journey to Mürren.
The views going up the cable car from Lauterbrunnen to Grutschalp are undoubtedly beautiful during the 4 minute ride. Unfortunately, the cable car is essentially filled to the brim with people, so it becomes hot, stuffy, and uncomfortable. Hopefully, they can make the cable car trips more frequent to make the ride more comfortable.
A retro train is running between Grütschalp and Mürren. You can see very beautiful sights on the train.
We went on Saturday 8th July at the lunch time and there was like 20 people to go up. I recommend to buy the full ticket to Murren but you can also buy it up here!
It is a small, well-maintained railway station. We took the train from Grutschalp to Murren after reaching Grutschalp using the cable car from Lauterbrunnen. Swiss Travel Pass was utilized for this trip.
Took the gondola down after using the train from Murren and cable car from Gimmelwald (late May afternoon). It was PACKED like sardines going down but the staff managed to fit everyone in somehow. Quick ride so it was bearable.
