The stuff was lovely, forthcoming even though we were late and the kitchen was about to close. |We had mushroom soup and the best Spätzle I've ever eaten. The food was all in all amazingly delicious, fresh and tasty. |I would strongly recommend this restaurant if you're in the vicinity.

Just wanted to say that we enjoyed a very nice Sunday lunch today at the Gasthof Lowen in Melchnau. The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant serves the traditional large Bernese portions, so a half portion starter is advised!
Hotel is new and very clean, Restaurant is superb. Basic rooms with facilities and free WIFI. Owner-operators are very friendly and hospitable. ||||Melchnau is in the middle of nowhere, abould half way between Basel and Lucerne. Not on main roads. Use a GPS to get there.
