Cool little castle and grounds. The highlight was the tower which was worth the climb to see the views of the lake. Lots of artifacts and rooms to see. Our group tasted the white wine from their own winery with some crunchy snacks. There was a wedding going on in the church and grounds while we were there.
So totally super cool. The grounds themselves are very beautiful, so be sure to walk around as much as you can. And then, you pop into the museum expecting yet another dreary collection of boring artifacts, but NOT here. The layout and information provided is extremely interesting. Each display area has been well thought out, with detailed descriptions of the history and lifestyles of the inhabitants over the centuries. And the climb to the top has several cool surprises for all ages -- although the upper floors aren't for the timid.
Fantastic place for a visit. The location also offers a great view of the lake and mountains. Parking is tight and can fill up quickly. It is a pay to park location.
A must stop in Spiez which is a must stop of the lake tour! The panorama view from the top of the tower is breathtaking.
The views from the castle grounds are amazing, a lot of opportunities for nice pictures. There's free access to the castle grounds, restaurant, castle gift shop and the bell tower (don't miss it)
Schloss Spiez might have been my favorite castle we visited in Switzerland. The views from inside the castle tower looking out over the church and mountains and lake are absolutely magical! We were there on a bright sunny day with the sparkling blue water full of sailboats and parasails. It was so beautiful you had to pinch yourself to make sure you weren’t dreaming. I would not miss seeing this castle. It’s a little off the beaten path, and those are the places I love the most. It’s full of history and intrigue. You can even try on period clothing and knight’s armor, and try out a bed the servants would have used. We did not get to tour the church, as there was a wedding in progress. Which was also incredible to watch the guests in their finery walking from the castle to the church.
