What a unique and stunning location! The hut is charming and super cosy. Comfort is very basic, as you would expect in the mountains, but everything is spotless and feels warm and welcoming. In the evening, the candlelight makes it extra cosy. The warden and staff were extremely hospitable and the food was nice. A truly memorable mountain experience! The views are amazing, have drink on the terrace!
You go here for the amazing views, amazing food & the chance to relax. We hiked in from Wengen. While it’s a good climb, everything here makes it well worth it. You meet some amazing hikers. The accommodations are rustic but so clean, quiet & warm. We are already trying to figure out a way to visit again with further hiking.
Special slice of remote heaven. Intense hike there made dinner taste even better. The fluffy duvets made up for the shared bathroom. No electricity made me feel like I went back in time. Milk straight from their cow for breakfast tasted delicious. Just go and experience this and drink in the views!
An excellent experience! After a long and tiring hike, we were rewarded with stunning views, an outstanding dinner, and comfortable rooms. The duvets were hugely fluffy! Probably the best meal we had in Switzerland. Here's are 10 things to help you plan your trip: 1. Book in advance (by phone or email if it's off-season) 2. Pack light for an overnight. They do have rooms that include bedding. 3. Dinner is a set menu. Give advance notice of you have specific diet needs. 4. No shoes inside the sleeping areas. 5. No electricity! Bring a flashlight with you. 6. Bring slippers. The bathroom is shared by the entire floor. 7. No showers. Bring baby wipes. 8. No insulation in the walls. If you're a light sleeper, bring ear plugs. 9. Breakfast is simple. Bread and cheese made on site. 10. Cash only! They do take Euros if that's all you have. Leaving a small tip is polite. There are at least three main ways to get to the hotel. (There are more, but these are the most common routes) One Is the most direct trail from Stechelberg that goes up past the waterfall. It's also the roughest trail and least maintained. It's not much fun when wet. Two + leaves from the end of the gravel road in the valley below. This takes longer, however, it's a lovely approach with better views. One of these options is most direct and steep. It is well maintained, however. The other gives you a longer, more gradual approach with waterfall views.
Perfect spot to take a seat and a rest whilst hiking these awesome mountain ranges. Service is good, as is the food and drinks. From here you can prepare and rehydrate before pushing through to the oberhornsee! Which is a small but beautifull alpine lake.
I stopped here on my hike and it was so lovely! Great soup, great dessert, great service, and of course beautiful views😊🔆
