We asked our AirBnB host where we could get local food for dinner. She pointed way up the hill to this less-populated and verdant Spiez neighborhood seemingly out in the middle of nowhere. L'atmosfera era in qualche modo eclettica ma tradizionale, con panorami bucolici sul lago e sulle montagne che attendevano gli ospiti interni ed esterni appollaiati lungo le grandi finestre in questa insolitamente calda serata di fine agosto. Il Chicken Cordon Blue è stato ben eseguito, anche se vorrei aver ordinato il lato pasta invece del cameriere che portava le patatine fritte predefinite. A nice dessert treat was the frozen Parfait Mokka, and our chosen accompanying sauce included orange liqueur. Per i miei lettori americani, e come probabilmente avrete già sentito, la maggior parte dei camerieri da queste parti non adora i propri ospiti con check-in frequenti e rifornimenti di bevande, ma piuttosto si dedica agli affari in stile minimalista. L'hotel è sicuramente in una bella posizione. Le camere sono abbastanza grandi ma molto datate. Il cibo non è male ma è caro. La direzione è molto scortese e non rispetta gli accordi presi. Fanno pagare più di quanto concordato. La madre del proprietario in particolare è molto scortese e scortese. Non tornerò mai più qui.

The best place in the area that I have been to for far reaching views over the Lake of Thun. The main patio area is glass covered so there is plenty of seating whatever the weather.

Although the the view of Thunersee is quite nice, the food was very disappointing. The classic schnitzel arrived undercooked and nearly raw. When I mentioned it, the waitress seemed more annoyed than anything. A new plate came back a few minute later with a new but SMALLER piece than before ! Still, the schnitzel tasted nothing like the schnitzels I have eaten in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. All this for the hefty price of CHF 28 !
