Amazing Christmas Stay at Waldhotel Doldenhorn! We spent a magical Christmas at Waldhotel Doldenhorn in Kandersteg, about a 2 hour and 40 minute drive from home, and it exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. This beautiful hotel is run with heart by a wonderful family. We had the pleasure of meeting the father, his lovely wife, their son (the heir), his wife, and their adorable baby, Valentina, who charmed all the guests. On Christmas Eve, the family joined every guest for dinner and led a heartfelt holiday ceremony that was truly touching and uniquely memorable. The entire staff was incredibly friendly, attentive, and warm. We were even pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a spacious room with breathtaking mountain views, a real highlight of our stay. The food was exceptional, and the surroundings are spectacular. A short drive away is the Oeschinensee cable car, the gondola that takes you up toward the stunning Oeschinen Lake and alpine scenery, which is absolutely worth visiting during any season. The hotel also has a lovely spa area with a pool and several sauna and steam rooms, perfect for relaxing after a day exploring the mountains. We enjoyed every minute and can’t recommend Waldhotel Doldenhorn enough. It was special in every way, so much so that we already booked our stay for next year! If you’re looking for warmth, beauty, and genuine Swiss hospitality, this is the place.

Stayed for two nights during the winter season, with halfboard. Staff were very friendly & helpful, from the reception to the restaurant. The double room has nice mountain views. Spa has lots of interesting sauna, the jacuzzi is small but they have outdoor one. You should try their chill lounge -has great views. The halfboard is worth getting as it allows you to also eat at their nearby sister hotel Ruedihus Gasthof, which is a historic one, worth a visit. The hotel has great mountain views all around & is a short pleasant walk to the Kandersteg town.
Charming 4* hotel in Kanderstag. If you love spa, this is an excellent hotel for you, it has: Finnish sauna 90C Hay saune 50C Salt sauna 60C Hamam Herb saune 80C (best) Cold plunge (best) Pool with outdoor jacuzzi Indoor jacuzzi Quiet room Other notable highlights: excellent food for halfboard which includes a free small lunch, free and efficient shuttle from train station, excellent breakfast spread with smoked salmon and prosecco.
