It's a village located high up, but it's very pretty. If you want to buy souvenirs, I recommend buying them at the bottom of town at the entrance to Interlaken, or in other nearby towns such as Bern. But there are quite a few stops where you can stop on the train to see things, take the chairlift, take boat tours, or hike. Frankly, it's a very beautiful town.
